Helping during COVID-19
Helping during COVID-19
Partner with our Heroes in the field who are facing difficult times amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
Due to this crisis, many of our self-sustained Heroes have been cut off from their communities during the lock down in the field. They rely on gifts from families within these communities to survive. Your support will provide food for our Heroes and their families and enable them to care for their communities.
NB: You will receive a tax-deductible gift from our partner Empower OAF
From The Field
Our heroes on the field continue to face unimaginable challenges every day during these times. Yet more than ever, their commitment amazes and inspires us.
Their focus during this season looks different, but is no less dedicated. Because of their passion to serve, amazing doors continue to open even while every other door is (literally) closing. They are seeing favour like never before, and open hearts in the communities they serve.
“While we confront this global health crisis, we are strengthened by years of experience that have shown us even when problems seem insurmountable, change is always possible even in the midst of every crisis.”
Day and night, our heroes are working to bring aid and relief to the most vulnerable and needy. But just as their workload is enormous, so are the opportunities they have to share hope, truth and love. So far, over 27,000 people have benefited from Empart’s food packs, hygiene and sanitation items, and COVID-19 education/awareness programs.
Perhaps one of the most significant things our heroes are doing right now, is speaking truth and hope to people, in an environment where misinformation, myths and fear are rampant. They are carriers of peace in a time where people are searching for it more than ever.
Our Team
Due to the lockdown, all Empart projects have been put on hold (schools, Training Centres, Skill Development Centres). Two months out from completing their studies, at a time they were brimming with excitement and dreams for the future, students have had to head back to their villages before graduating. Some were unable to go home due to closed borders.
You can imagine the disappointment, angst and concern for family members all our students and workers are facing. Through it all however, our leaders are working hard and providing counsel over the phone. They are continuing to lead and guide students and those in their communities with great love and compassion.
A major concern we as an Empart family are facing, is that our field workers who were fully or partially supported by the communities they serve, are now left with little to no income. This means their ability to provide food and other basic needs for themselves and their families has now been taken away.
Yet even while they face extreme hardship themselves, our heroes on the field are already being used powerfully in the face of this crisis.
How our heroes are helping in the face of the unfolding crisis
Empart leaders have been:
- Assisting in identifying the most vulnerable families in their communities
- Distributing food and other basic supplies to families and individuals
- Continuing with the COVID-19 awareness program
- Conducting medical check-ups throughout slum communities (by qualified medical staff)
One of our heroes says, “It is a great privilege and honour to help the people in their need during this epidemic. We are enthusiastic to go out, meet the needy, and supply their essentials for food materials.”
