Shadows that point to the Light
Shadows that point to the light
On a recent trip to the field, I snapped this picture as the sun shrunk towards the horizon and the shadows grew long.
I’ve always had a fascination with shadows. As I studied this picture, I thought about how when we live within the light of the Father, our lives leave ‘shadows’ for those around us to see.
Shadows that point to the source of light — the Son.
This image of the little boy stirs my heart for all the things he was made to do. Uniquely fashioned with a specific set of gifts, abilities and a divinely inspired personality. He was made to do great things, to leave an impact on the world around him, to point others to the Son.
He is deeply loved by his Creator and made for a special purpose.
Thankfully, this little one is being nurtured, cared for and loved in a safe place; living in one of our hostels and going to one of our high-quality schools. I’m glad all the things planted within him by the Creator will have a chance to grow and flourish.
I am reminded of the sad reality, however, that there are many others like him; born for a unique purpose, deeply loved and immeasurably valued, whose world is vastly different. It’s heart breaking that in this broken world, not all have the chance to learn, grow, be nurtured and thrive into all they were made to be.
Would you give a gift today to send a little one to school? The world is waiting for them. And they are waiting for you. Will you be a hero to our young heroes?
